Have a fantastic summer!

What a fun school year we've had!  I've enjoyed your children so much.  I hope this year has been challenging for them, but fun just the same.

I would never expect any students to spend the summer doing schoolwork, but I would like to make a few suggestions.  Although these aren't mandatory, they've worked really hard all year to get where they are and we don’t want to lose that over the months we’ll be out.  Here are a few optional ideas:

  1. READ! There are so many wonderful books out there.  It’s not a chore to read when it’s something you enjoy.  The local libraries have nice summer reading programs, and Barnes and Noble always lets you spend hours enjoying their selections. This is a great list of summer reading selections.

  1. Math – Practicing math facts would be a huge help.  Even driving down the road you can quiz them on multiplication facts occasionally.  There are so many ways to incorporate math and other skills into your everyday lives (measuring while cooking, using a road map on vacations, etc…). Purchasing a summer subscription to the Aleks math program and working an hour or two a week is another great idea to keep those math skills sharp.
Thanks again for a wonderful year.  I've seen your children grow in many ways.  Have a wonderful, and safe, summer!
